Sharpening Bench

December 26, 2010

Well I managed to snag this piece of red marble for free from an old table. It is not flat enough to sharpen directly on, but it will add some mass and be water-proof.

So this morning I got started on making a trestle style support system for it. I have most of it roughed out and managed to rough out half of the bridle joints between the feet and legs.

On a side note I had to chase my bench around the shop this morning while planing. I can’t wait to get my bench finished!

What style of bench are you going to make?

A Schwaz-ish styled Roubo out of southern yellow pine. I have been working on it for months. Hopefully now that I have a dedicated work space I will finally get it finished. Hand planing all those boards for glue up is a workout. đŸ™‚

Once I get this sharpening station built I will be focusing on the work bench again.
