Standing Tall

January 16, 2011

Lucky me. I finally made it into the shop again today. I was able to get the arms and feet glued and cleaned up a bit. I also cut an arced relief on the bottom of the feet so that there are 4 points of contact on the floor.

What I am most happy about is how the through wedged tenons are looking. They are still in the clamps but all the gaps look tight. I cut the mortises with a 1/2″ mortise chisel by cutting about half way through from one side then flipping the piece over and completing it from the other side. One thing is painfully obvious…I really need a carcass and tenon saw.
